2023-05-05: I Came Home with Nothing
Friday, May 5, 2023
High: 71.2
Low: 37.4
Partly Cloudy
- Went to the herb festival. Had a nice convo with Nathan from Wildbud Natives. I showed him a picture of the orchard area and he said that he could make me a deal on a larger number of plants if I wanted to do something like a meadow. I might hire him for a consultation. He said he uses a drill with an augur bit when he does planting. That would save a lot of time and energy. Something I could get from the tool library. He sells plants by the tray at a discount. I didn't buy anything.
- Mowed the east lawn and weed-whacked some of the harder spots.
- Moved all of the figs into the greenhouse, reorganized them, and watered all of them. I plan on keeping a close eye on them and watering them daily. I also moved the tomato and pepper starts in there. Consolidation. I'm happy to get some wind protection on them!
- Pulled some weeds. The Bermuda grass is making its way. I had an idea to plant something in the places where I pull up Bermuda grass, buttercup, or other "weeds", although I am not sure what that something would be.

The shade cloth has been great at keeping things < 105! |

Sochan didn't like the cold. It's root-bound in dry, cruddy soil. Not feeling to optimistic about this guy. |

Malabar spinach looking strong. They were selling these at the fest. |

It got down to 37 degrees last night and the figs remained outside. They're ok! |

Love seeing some of last year's perennials coming back |
