High: 64.8
Low: 12.8
Sunny
Observations
- Significant cold damage to the figs in the greenhouse. It'll be interesting to see if/how they recover.
- It smells excellent in the greenhouse, like figs.
- JH Adriatic stands out as one of the most cold-hardy. There was hardly any leaf damage on the young plant.
- Started to dig out edamame because I was curious if they were still there. I saw signs of germination. It's been a while! I think it's just been too cold for them. They like 60 degrees min, whereas peas can take 40 degrees. I think I'll wait a few more weeks, but if there are no signs of life by then, I'll plant some new seeds.
Tasks
- Got engaged :)
- Watered the beds (after the hose unfroze)
- Checked on all the plants
- Received a package from Burnt Ridge (four goumi plants)
- Ordered three grafted Pawpaws from Edible Landscapes
Ideas
- I had an idea today about specializing in figs that can survive in zone 6. Focusing on varieties that are proven to be cold-hardy. Offering protection solutions as well. Like a niche within a niche. JH Adriatic would be on that list.
