High: 70.8
Low: 40.2
Sunny

Observations
  • The VdB fig in the front yard did surprisingly well during the winter. Most of the plant is still alive.
Tasks
  • Pruned the in-ground fig trees
  • Got a few raspberries and strawberries at the plant sale
  • Went to the Fruit and Nut club's scion swap. Amazing. Some takeaways that I remember:
    • Goumi flowers apparently smell amazing
    • People are considering climate change and how that will affect the fruit trees that can grow here
    • I want to start experimenting with grafting
Tomorrow
  • Prune the figs that are in the greenhouse
  • Transfer the mulberry cuttings into tree-pots
  • Plant raspberries
  • Plant strawberries
  • Determine a location for asparagus

Spinach starting to pop up

Arugula looking strong

Path to the house that hosted the scion swap

Packed

The branch was moldy and the inner part turned transparent (it's usually white)

Chicago hardy in the front yard had to get pruned down to the ground

Using some cuttings to train the San Miguel Roxo. This tree has a lovely shape.

The I-258 had to get pruned down to about 8" :(

I love pruning
