2023-03-04: Nutty Buddies
Saturday, March 4, 2023
High: 70.8
Low: 40.2
Sunny
Observations
- The VdB fig in the front yard did surprisingly well during the winter. Most of the plant is still alive.
Tasks
- Pruned the in-ground fig trees
- Got a few raspberries and strawberries at the plant sale
- Went to the Fruit and Nut club's scion swap. Amazing. Some takeaways that I remember:
- Goumi flowers apparently smell amazing
- People are considering climate change and how that will affect the fruit trees that can grow here
- I want to start experimenting with grafting
Tomorrow
- Prune the figs that are in the greenhouse
- Transfer the mulberry cuttings into tree-pots
- Plant raspberries
- Plant strawberries
- Determine a location for asparagus
