2022-10-03: Day off

High: 62
Low: 50
Cloudy

I took a recovery day off work so I had some extra time in the yard.

  • Dug up some privet near firepit
  • Planted a raspberry in a new line, next to the blueberries
  • Transplanted two more raspberries (yellow ann + heritage) into the new line
  • Redid the figpops. They were pretty loose, so I compacted the soil and tightened them up. I emptied out a large plastic storage container and will be using it to store all the figpops this season.
  • Went out to the veggie garden to get some lettuce, around 8:30 and noticed a few big black caterpillars eating the greens. There were longer and thicker than the green ones I see in the day. I think it'd be a cool idea to do a video on what happens in the yard at night. I noticed a couple of different insects and spiders, too. It's a whole 'nother world.
  • In talks with someone in Weaverville offering 22 cubic feet of woodchips delivered for $220. I'm considering it because I want to get everything covered before next spring and chipdrop has been silent.
  • Foraged some more figs from 41 Euclid Ave. I'll probably go at least one more time this season and I'll ask the lady if I can take some cuttings.

Picture I sent to the potential mulch deliverer
