2022-10-01: Buttercup Removal

High: 58
Low: 49
Cloudy, light rain

Today I got some help identifying a plant that has been busting through the cardboard sheet mulched areas near the pawpaw patch. Ranunculus ("buttercup"). I remember when these were flowering in the spring, and they were very widespread. I decided to pull out as much as I could today and replace them with some strawberry plants that I got from the plant swap last week. I planted all (about 15) of them in places where the buttercup once was. The intention is to have an edible groundcover, and of course, rid that area of the undesired buttercup plants.

The roots are pretty deep and some had a bulb at the bottom

There are still some of them left and I imagine it will be an ongoing battle, but I will try to keep them at bay this fall so they don't take over in the spring.
